HACKATHON

Co-creating relevant solutions
"We cannot solve a problem by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them-- Einstein"
Once a year, a Hackathon will be organized with 8 tracks that are relevant to the country. In 2019, up to 8 teams per track will be co-creating solutions relevant to (mainly) rural areas in India. Using our collective intelligence, we build on solutions that have an impact today. Teams will be challenged to come out of their comfort zone and experience the joy of letting go of mental constructs. We can already announce that Professor Sugata Mitra will spend a few days at the Hackathon to ask questions teams have never been asked before.

People from (mainly) villages will be encouraged to share their thoughts, pain points and stories in their own vernacular. These will be translated into English so participating teams can work on solutions that are relevant to the users.
Corporates, Universities, NGO’s, government officials and other organisations are invited to join in the role of sponsor, mentor, expert and/or connector and can accelerate the process before, during and after the Hackathon, whilst learning about the needs within the communities, new technologies / applications and how these can be more beneficial to society.
The three-day Hackathon will take place from 9-11 August 2019 in Hyderabad, India, with a day full of workshops before the Hackathon, on August 8th. Code produced at the Hackathon will be open source. Most probable tracks: Agriculture, Energy, Learning, Transport & Infrastructure, Water & Sanitation, Child & Women Safety, Health, New Communities.
On August 12th, teams will be guided towards the first steps in their 1000 day-plan. Two weeks after the Hackathon (23-25 August 2019), we will participate in the Basic Income Earth Network (BIEN) congress in Hyderabad and discuss the results.
